Hackers Infect Android Automotive Head Units to Build Global Proxy Botnet
Cybersecurity researchers at BleepingComputer have alerted vehicle owners to a cyberattack campaign targeting aftermarket Android-based car infotainment systems.

The malware exploits exposed ADB debugging ports and outdated firmware versions to gain root access. Once installed, it silently routes commercial proxy traffic through the vehicle cellular or Wi-Fi connections, consuming cellular data caps and causing system lag.
Security analysts recommend vehicle owners update head unit firmware immediately and disable wireless debugging interfaces to prevent unauthorized access.
