ChatGPT Adds Apple Messages Integration to Send Texts via Siri API

OpenAI has unveiled a direct integration between ChatGPT and Apple Messages on iOS devices, leveraging newly opened Apple Intent APIs. The feature allows ChatGPT Plus and Team subscribers to grant the AI assistant permission to compose, schedule, and send text messages directly through native messaging channels.

Users can prompt ChatGPT to perform tasks like coordinating group dinner times, summarizing long text threads, or sending automated confirmation messages based on calendar events. All outbound messages require explicit user preview and approval by default to prevent accidental transmissions.

Privacy advocates have noted that message data remains client-side encrypted until explicitly passed to the ChatGPT model context, adhering to Apple strict sandbox guidelines.
