Google Begins Rolling Out Motion Assist Anti-Nausea Feature Across Android Devices

Google has officially started rolling out its system-level Motion Assist feature to eligible Android smartphones. Designed to combat travel motion sickness, the technology renders subtle animated visual cues along the edges of the screen that mirror vehicle motion dynamics in real time.

By utilizing device gyroscopes and accelerometers, Motion Assist displays moving dots that synchronize with vehicle turn vectors, acceleration, and braking. This visual alignment resolves sensory conflict between the inner ear's motion detection and the eye's focal lock on a static display screen.

Initially appearing on Pixel smartphones running Android 17, the feature will expand to third-party Android device manufacturers through upcoming play service updates.
