The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued an emergency operational hold on HoverAir innovative modular transforming camera drones following reports of structural latches failing mid-flight.

The drone, designed to reconfigure between hand-launched selfie modes and long-range quadcopter flight, experienced several mid-air disconnects during consumer testing. HoverAir has suspended US shipments while designing a reinforced magnetic locking mechanism.
Customers with existing units have been instructed to pause flights until a firmware safety update and hardware clip retrofit are distributed.
