Hugging Face Launches $399 Open-Source Microduck Robot for AI Hardware Developers

Hugging Face has officially expanded its ecosystem into physical AI hardware with the announcement of Microduck, a $399 open-source desktop robot. Designed specifically for AI researchers and robotics developers, Microduck comes pre-configured to interface with Hugging Face LeRobot open-source robotics libraries.

The compact robot features dual wide-angle optical cameras, tactile force-feedback actuators, and an onboard microcontroller capable of running quantized vision-language-action (VLA) models locally. By making both the physical schematics and training pipelines open source, Hugging Face aims to lower the barrier to entry for embodied AI experimentation.

Industry analysts view Microduck as a strategic bridge connecting digital AI models with physical manipulation workflows, facilitating low-cost data collection for foundation robotics models.
