Spotify has officially launched 'Playlist Notes,' a major user experience enhancement designed to restore the intimate feel of physical album liner notes to digital streaming. The feature allows playlist creators, verified artists, and Spotify editors to annotate individual tracks with short backstories, studio anecdotes, and listening notes.

Listeners can tap a new note icon alongside song titles to display a pop-over card detailing why the song was selected, production context, or personal reflections from the curator. Initial partner playlists featuring artist notes from top global musicians saw a 35% increase in listener engagement.
The tool is rolling out to premium subscribers across iOS and Android today, with plans to open creation capabilities to all verified Spotify creators by the end of Q3.
