Uber Eats has announced a major partnership with autonomous logistics leader Zipline to integrate airborne drone deliveries into its restaurant delivery network. Utilizing Zipline's new Platform 2 (P2) quiet delivery drones, customers will soon be able to receive food orders dropped precisely into their yards via tethered pods within minutes of order completion.

The rollout will launch initially in select suburban metros across Texas and California before scaling nationally. Zipline's drones fly at speeds up to 70 mph and hover quietly at 300 feet while lowering a small delivery droid to deposit packages with pin-point accuracy.
